About Perfectly
Sustainable

Most sustainability content tells you what to buy. Very little tells you why it matters or what claims you can actually trust. Perfectly Sustainable fixes that. Every topic starts with the science and the real trade-offs, before we ever point you toward a product.

I Started This Because I Couldn't Stop Thinking About It

My name is Hassan Radwan, and nature has been something I could ever switch off.

I remember seeing footage of an oil spill as a child. The water black, the animals coated, the ecosystem just erased. It didn’t make me sad in a passing way. It caused a kind of deep anguish that I still carry. Nature isn’t a backdrop to human life. It is the foundation of it. And watching it be treated as an afterthought has driven everything I’ve built here.

That feeling became a question I couldn’t ignore: why is it so hard to find honest, clear information about what’s actually sustainable and what isn’t?

Most of what I found online was too vague to act on, too promotional to trust, or too technical to understand without a science degree. Brands used “eco-friendly” as a marketing label. Blogs recommended products without explaining the systems behind them. Readers who genuinely wanted to make better choices were left more confused than when they started.

That’s the gap Perfectly Sustainable exists to close.

What This Site Actually Is

Perfectly Sustainable is not a lifestyle blog. It is not a product review site. It is not a collection of feel-good eco tips.

It is a systems-based knowledge platform built on the belief that people cannot make genuinely sustainable choices unless they first understand the systems they are participating in.

Before we ever recommend a product, we explain:

  • What the material is made of and how it behaves in the environment

  • What the real trade-offs are, not just the marketing claims

  • Which certifications actually mean something, and which are noise

  • Who a product is right for, and who it isn’t

We explain the system first. Then we help you act.

How We Research and What We Rely On

I don’t have a laboratory. What I have is a rigorous research process and an unwillingness to publish anything I’m not confident in.

Every topic is researched against primary sources: certification bodies, peer-reviewed studies, and regulatory frameworks. We cite institutions like GOTS, OEKO-TEX, Bluesign, and the Plastic Soup Foundation because they represent independently verified standards, not because they’re convenient.

When we evaluate products, we read verified reviews, analyse material disclosures, compare against competitors, and cross-reference claims against what the science actually says. We don’t publish a recommendation we wouldn’t stand behind.

This is a solo operation, built, researched, and written by me. We use affiliate links on some product pages, and it is always disclosed. Recommendations are driven by criteria, not commission. If a product doesn’t meet our standards, it doesn’t appear here.

Who This Is For

This site is for people who want to understand sustainability, not just perform it.

Whether you’re just starting to question what’s in your clothing or you’ve been researching certifications for years, Perfectly Sustainable is built to meet you with clarity, not condescension.

If you want decisions grounded in real information rather than marketing language, you’re in the right place.

The Scope of What We Cover

Perfectly Sustainable covers four interconnected knowledge systems, each with its own educational foundation, evaluation logic, and carefully constrained recommendations.

Sustainable Living covers daily environments and choices that affect your health and the planet:

  • Eco-Friendly Clothing: materials, chemicals, microplastics, certifications, and wardrobe decisions

  • Eco-Friendly Kitchen: cookware safety, food storage, chemical leaching, and waste reduction

  • Eco-Friendly Sleep and Bedding: VOCs, off-gassing, mattress materials, and nightly exposure

  • Eco-Friendly Cleaning: surfactants, fragrances, indoor air quality, and waterway impact

Eco-Friendly Personal Care covers products applied directly to the body, separated by exposure pathway:

  • Makeup: heavy metals, pigments, fillers, and cosmetic label literacy

  • Skincare: dermal absorption, cumulative exposure, sunscreen safety, and certifications

  • Body and Hair Care: wash-off risks, surfactants, scalp absorption, and water system impact

  • High-Absorption Personal Care: oral, intimate, and hygiene products with elevated exposure risk

Sustainable Farming covers food and land systems at the soil, method, and ecosystem level:

  • Regenerative Soil Systems: soil biology, carbon cycling, compost, biochar, and microbial health

  • Sustainable Farming Systems: regenerative vs conventional agriculture, water, and biodiversity

  • Permaculture: design ethics, zones, layers, and nature-inspired system efficiency

  • Aquaponics: closed-loop fish and plant systems, water efficiency, and nutrient cycling

Sustainable Energy covers household-scale energy and resource systems:

  • Solar Panels: system design, efficiency, environmental trade-offs, and cost analysis

  • Recycling and Composting Systems: waste flows, material recovery, and home system setup

  • Sustainable Food Systems: food waste, farm-to-table, and the energy and water nexus

  • Water Conservation: household water use, rainwater harvesting, and greywater reuse

We do not cover fast fashion trends. We do not publish “best of” lists without explanation. We do not chase topics outside these systems for the sake of traffic.
